Are you doing a kitchen remodel or bathroom remodel?
You’re almost ready to get your new countertops and we are just as excited as you are! We do need your help in preparing for this big day so we can complete your installation. The following checklist will provide you with all the things that need to be done before we arrive.
- Make sure cabinets are plumb, level, square and secured to the walls and/or floor. We will not install the new countertops on unleveled cabinets & if we are required to level them above normal circumstances we will discuss this with you before proceeding with the install & there could be an additional charge.
- Cabinets that will rest on top of the countertop (appliance garage, etc.) must be installed after the new countertop is installed
- For remodels using existing cabinets all countertops, backsplashes, sinks and cook tops need to be removed from cabinetry. We do offer removal and disposal of old countertops if you do not already have a source to do so.
- Plumbing and electric/gas cook tops need to be disconnected. Since we do not specialize in these trades we cannot do any plumbing or electrical work. (We have several companies that we work regularly with and will coordinate with them on your behalf)
- We recommend new tile backsplash should not be completed prior to countertop installation.
- If you are going to keep your existing tile backsplash, then some cuts may need to be made to ensure your countertops fit underneath it
- We require a decision maker there to approve all countertop details at installation day unless other arrangements have been made.
- Remove all items from cabinets. Move all breakables, such lamps, vases, mirrors or any other valuables items from areas affected by installation.
- Provide a clear path for the install team to bring in your countertops both inside and outside of the home or business.
- We suggest scheduling a plumber and electrician for the day following installation so they can reconnect plumbing, install the faucets and connect any wiring as required. (If you use one of our recommended sources we will schedule with them on your behalf)
- For safety, keep children and pets away from construction area.
- If your project includes full backsplash out of the countertop material it is usually a two-part process to complete the installation. The full backsplash will be measured after the installation of the countertop. The backsplash will be installed approximately one week later. Upper cabinets and range hood/microwave combinations must be installed prior to measurement for the full backsplash. This process allows for the best fit. The material used for this process will be the same used to make the counter top, unless otherwise specified.
